  • How long do procedures typically last?

Procedure length can vary quite a bit depending on the specific procedure itself, but patients can expect from 1.5-6 hours from start to finish typically.

  • Will I need a hospital stay?

Most patients will stay in the hospital for a few days following surgery to ensure the best possible outcomes.  Dr. Kinney will closely monitor your process as you recover and be sure to get you home as soon as he can in the safest possible way.

  • What does recovery time look like?

Aftercare differs for every procedure and individual, but typically 6-8 weeks of post-operative care is required.  Some patients may require speech or physical therapy depending on the surgery and affected body parts.  Dr. Kinney will be sure to review your specific post-operative care expectations instructions prior to your procedure so you know what to expect!

  • What are the potential complications of the procedure?

Although infrequent, complications are always a potential outcome of any medical procedure.  The majority of complications are handled conservatively and without a need for additional surgery.

  • Will my insurance cover my procedure
          • Absolutely.  The vast majority of trunk and extremity reconstructions are considered covered benefits.  That said, our office always seeks prior authorization to ensure coverage and can even assist with assessing your benefits so you can plan financially for any deductible, coinsurance, copays, etc.
